Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions. If you would like to ask us something that hasn’t been answered here please contact us or use the contact us form.

How does Brexit affect my order?

As we are based in Northern Ireland, we are still part of the EU single market and customs union. This means that unlike businesses in Great Britain, we are not required to submit customs declarations to ship orders to the EU.

This should help speed up orders as orders from us to the EU are not required to undergo customs checks.

VAT on items sold to the EU after 1st July 2021:

Due to new EU regulations that came into force on 1st July 2021:

From 1st July 2021 all online sellers located in the EU or Northern Ireland (where we are based) are required under EU law to register for VAT in each EU member state, and to charge VAT on all purchases made through their websites at your country’s standard VAT rate. The VAT will be automatically included in each product’s price (and shipping) – a legal requirement for selling in the EU.

You will not have to pay anything upon import of your package to have it delivered as you have already paid it at time of sale. We will provide this information electronically to Royal Mail who will in turn provide it to your country’s postal service when we ship your order. This saves you from having to pay VAT upon delivery + a hefty service charge levied by your postal delivery company to collect the VAT.

We are VAT registered in Northern Ireland (VAT number: XI384331788) to collect VAT in all 27 EU countries, and the VAT paid will be remitted to your country’s tax authorities.

VAT will NOT be added on sales to the UK (including Northern Ireland which is part of both the UK and EU systems) as these are treated as domestic sales. As we fall below the VAT registration threshold for domestic UK sales we are not required to add or collect VAT on these.

AT will NOT be added to sales outside the UK and EU. However you may be required to pay import taxes, federal taxes, local state taxes and/or customs duties upon delivery.

Shipping Times:

We are currently processing and shipping orders as normal.

Domestic orders (Orders to UK addresses) – 1st class: 1 to 3 working days. 2nd class: 2 to 5 working days. Please allow a few days extra for your order to arrive due to coronavirus restrictions. Please contact us if your order has not arrived 7 days after it has been shipped.

International orders (Orders to non-UK addresses) – please allow some extra time for your order to arrive. Up to 4 weeks for EU ordersup to 5 weeks for non-EU orders. Orders usually arrive much faster than this.

Why is shipping to the U.S. so expensive?

Unfortunately postage rates to the U.S. have skyrocketed in the past year. Royal Mail have increased their rates to the U.S. 3 times in the past year alone – so much so that they have even given the U.S. its own shipping zone!

We only charge what it costs us to ship to the U.S.

Do you sell through any third party websites? Do you do wholesale?

We do not do wholesale. We do not sell via third party reseller websites.

The only places you can purchase our products are here and at our Etsy store.

Occasionally we sell at traders’ markets and craft fayres. If we are planning any we will let you know here and on our social media channels.

Please do not purchase products claiming to be made by us on other websites, as you do not know what you are getting. To ensure you’re getting a genuine product please only purchase directly from us here.

My local supermarket is selling 30ml of beard oil for £4 yet you’re charging over 4 times that amount. Why is this?

Like everything, you get what you pay for. Take a look at the ingredients on the £4 bottle. You’re buying a bottle of primarily cheap, bargain basement vegetable oil and sunflower oil, with some added fragrance oils and other chemicals – in other words, junk!

Do you really want to be putting that on your face?

Your beard will not thank you and will look and feel like crap as a result (weak, brittle, lank looking, split ends, clogged pores, unhealthy skin – you get the picture).

With our oils (and all our products) you’re getting the very best ingredients, blended to give the optimum results for your beard and skin.

Looking after your beard is an investment and shouldn’t be skimped on. You get out of your beard what you put into it.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Yes, items can be gift wrapped at a small additional charge.

If you reside outside the European Union please note that customs officials can open gift wrapped items for inspection and dispose of the wrapping. This rarely happens, but occasionally does if they need to inspect a package further.

Contact us if you would like to arrange to have an item gift wrapped or to discuss gift wrapping options.

What do I do if an item arrives damaged or I’m dissatisfied with my order?

Contact us. You may be asked to provide photos of the damaged item. This is so a claim can be submitted to Royal Mail. Please do not throw out the damaged item until you are advised to do so as it may be needed to support a claim. A pre-paid shipping label will be sent to you if the item needs to be returned.

A replacement will then be sent out to you upon receipt of photos of the damaged item.

I’m a social media “influencer”. Can I have some free products?

No. Please do not pester us looking for free products. We do not respond to begging emails.
